Biographical sketches [microform] (Typescript).

Born in Albion, Home District, Upper Canada, son of Parshall and Hannah Terry. Driven out of Missouri by the Extermination Order of Governor Boggs; childhood while in Nauvoo, Illinois, with parents; description of Joseph Smith's appearance; exodus west with his parents; arrival in Salt Lake Valley, 1849; veteran of the Walker Wars; marriage to Mary Richards, 1856; marriage to Sara K. Lemmons, divorce three years later; activities with Lot Smith in the Johnston Army episode, 1857-1858; settlement in Rockvill, 1863; captian in the Iron Military District during the Black Hawk War, 1865-1867; first counselor to Bishop Charles N. Smith, Rockville Ward, 1877-1891; school trustee and road supervisor in Rockville fourteen years; selectman of Washington County for 2 terms beginning 1883; mission to Canada and the U.S., 1887-1888; arrested on polygamy charges 1888; ordained a patriarch by Apostle Mathias F. Cowley, 1902; help in establishing the United Order in Rockville, 1902; background of his wife and her death in 1902; personal recollection of James Parshall Terry by family members.
